Enter the Palace Museum from the north end of Tiananmen Square. Known as Forbidden City, the Palace Museum is a treasure house of Chinese cultural and historical relics. The palace was the exclusive domain of the imperial court for almost 500 years, 24 emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 2.9 square kilometers, including 70,000 square meters of building space. Jinshanling Great Wall is a remote section with many original features. It is second only to the Badaling Great Wall in its completeness. It used to be under the jurisdiction of Gubeilu, an important doorway in the northeast defence line of the Ming Dynasty.
