China developed very fast since 1990.    There are excellent hotels in each city of China.
But don't expect the hotel in small city to compare with hotel in Shanghai or Beijing.

How to find a good China Hotels?
Different hotel provides different service, although it is one of international Brand. There are so many hotels in China; it is important to choose a nice hotel with good price. It is a good idea to read travelers' feedback of the hotel before reservation.

In China, the Hotel level can be understand in this way:
\_ Hostel in China:
Hostel is set to solve the basic need of accommodation. You may regard these hostel as 2 star level. Most hostels do not offer breakfast, you may prepare by yourselves. Part of hostels offer free simple breakfast. Some hostels are abundant with Chinese elements.   These hostels became welcomed by young travelers. For sure you need to do some research before reservation, because some hostels are not so good. Another way to find a hostel is asking help from a local travel agent. There is one point to note, some hostels are not permitted to accept foreigners, please re-confirm this with the hostel before reservation.

\_ 3 star Beijing hotel:
Around 15 years ago, only 3 star or above level hotel are permitted to accept foreign travelers, perhaps to make sure foreign travelers have a pleasant trip i China. 3 star hotel  offer comfortable stay with a less expensive cost.

\_ 4 star Beijing hotel:
4 star hotel offer decent and even deluxe stay for travelers. The 4 star level hotel may cater almost all needs of travelers. And most 4 star hotel provide gym and swimming pool.

\_ 5 star Beijing hotel:
This is the top level hotel in China. It offers deluxe accommodation and dinning service for travelers. Actually there are huge difference between different 5 star hotels, because of service, location or selling policy.

Safe
Safe is not a problem in Beijing. But please do not take plenty of cash with you; do not enter subway when you walk alone in the evening.

Food
Restaurant can be found in each hotel of 3 star or above. Some famous restaurants located in part of 5 star hotel, such as the Jing Rest a urn at in Palace Hotel. Revolving restaurant can be found on top of some 4 or 5 star hotel, which make it possible to have a bird view of the city. Some hostel do not have restaurant.

Water
Almost all hotels provides two bottles of free water each day. Tap water is not available to drink directly.

Electronic Power
The voltage in China hotel is 220V. Some hotel have both 110V and 220V electrical outlets in the bathroom. A portable plug adaptor is necessary, because the shape of a socket varies between countries.

China Hotel Payment

Most travelers will pay the hotel reception when check in.  Most hotels accept payment upon arrival.   All 3, 4, 5 start hotel accept payment via cash and main credit credit.   You may make a reservation via internet before your trip and pay the hotel reception via cash or credit card.
During peak travel season, credit card information is needed when you making a reservation, as guarantee of your room. Sometimes, you may get a special price based on prepayment.

Some hostels and small hotels only accept cash. Travelers can get better price if they can make reservation and manage payment in advance.

Reservation / Cancel
We suggest travelers to reserve room in advance, via phone, website site, or fax, through travel company or hotel directly. Some travelers prefer to reserve room in airport or just taxi to hotel, the result is no room available or a higher price. Please contact the person or company which reserved the room for you. Some hotel needs cancelling fee.

Check in / Late check in. / Early Check in. / Check out / Late Check out.
Hotel Check in time is 12:00. check in hour is 12:00 to 13:00. If you need a early check in or late check out, please contact hotel reception in advance. There will be extra cost for late check out.

Deposit

The hotel reception will ask travelers to pay some deposit when check in. The deposit will be around double of the room cost, which will be refund when you check out. You may pay the deposit via cash or credit card. Sometimes, the deposit takes several months to be refund to your card.

Luggage
Deposit You may put the luggage at the reception before check in or after check out. Some hotel do not allow travelers to deposit luggage. So please reconfirm with hotel reception in advance.

Tickets Service
There are tickets counter in the lobby of part hotels. They can buy tickets or make reservation for you based on service charge. In some hotel, the business center can buy tickets. Please note, the train tickets start to be bought around 20 days before departure date. We suggest you to make reservation in advance, because it is hard to get tickets during peak season or popular city.

Travel service
There is travel service counter in part of hotel lobby. They are provided by travel company, although sometimes they are not licensed travel company. Some concierge desk or some bellboy say they can arrange travel service for you, don't believe them.

Car Rental Service in hotel

There are car rental service in part of 4 or 5 star hotels. The price is higher than car rental company or travel company. Arrange the car rental in advance will help you to save money.
