Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Yu Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Shanghai Museum, Nanjing Road, the Bund.

Drive to visit Yu Garden.
Located in the southern part of Shanghai, Yu Garden is a well-restored Suzhou-style garden. It is one of the best gardens in southern China. With pavilions, halls, chambers, towers, ponds and rockeries, it presents more than 40 scenic spots. No wonder people say "Those who have come to Shanghai missing Yu Garden and the City God Temple Bazaar can not claim that they have been to the city."

Then visit Jade Buddha Temple.
Built in 1882, Jade Buddha Temple has two jade statues of the Sakyamuni Buddha, one seated and one reclining. The seated Buddha is 1.9 meters tall and was carved out of a single piece of white jade, wearing a robe inlaid with precious jewels. The temple also houses a number of ancient sculptures, rare paintings and Buddhist scriptures.

Move on to visit Shanghai Museum.
Shanghai Museum, known as the Museum of Ancient Chinese Art, was established in 1952. You will find more than 120,000 precious and rare works of art in 21 categories. In addition to the 11 galleries, the museum includes three exhibition halls, a tearoom, a restaurant, shops, a high-definition graphics hall, a library and a VIP garden.

Then visit the Bund. The Bund, also called Zhongshan Road, is a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. The most famous and attractive sights are the 52 various buildings of different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance, which are also located at the west side of the Bund. The Bund was the centre of Shanghai's politics, economy and culture hundreds of years ago, consulates of most countries. Many banks, businesses and newspaper offices were settled there, and that's why we have these art-like buildings.

Day 2. Zhouzhuang Water Town.

Drive to visit the water town Zhouzhuang including ancient town and old waterways. Zhouzhuang lies at the middle between Shanghai and Suzhou, So it is thought by many to be the best waterside town in China. This ancient town has a history of more than 900 years old with many houses built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are about 100 houses with courtyards, and 60 of them have arch gateways made by carved bricks.

Day 3. Suzhou: Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden, Garden of the Master of the Nets, Grand Canal.

Drive to Suzhou to visit Humble Administrator's Garden. Located in the northeastern part of Suzhou city, Humble Administrator's Garden the largest private garden in Suzhou. First laid out in 1509 AD, the garden's scenery is focused on a central pond with various buildings of pavilions, terraces, chambers and towers located by the water or on hillocks in a natural, unsophisticated and appropriate composition.

Then visit Lingering Garden. Lingering Garden is a classical Chinese traditional garden listed as culture relics by UNESCO in 1997. With an area of 23,310 square meters, it is celebrated for its artistic way of dealing with the spaces between various kinds of architectural form. The four parts of the garden are connected by corridors which twists and turns with the terrain, spiraling up hills, spanning valleys, skirting ponds, or leading to secluded nooks.

Proceed to visit the Garden of the Master of the Nets. Garden of the Master of the Nets is the smallest garden in Suzhou, covering a space of only 5000 sq meters. The small space is its greatest charm as it encompasses all the elements of a classic Chinese garden within close boundaries.

Grand CanalProceed to Grand Canal. The Grand Canal, 1,764 km (about 1200 miles) in length, is the longest man-made waterway as well as being the greatest in ancient China, far surpassing the next two grand canals of the world: the Suez and Panama Canals. Running from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province in the south to Beijing in the north of China, Grand Canal connects different river systems in China.
Take a cruise on the Grand Canal. Taking a boat ride on the old Canal can give you a full view of the landscape of a typical river town in southern China including age-old dwelling houses, stone bridges of traditional designs and historical relics.

Day 4. Hangzhou: Ling Yin Temple, West Lake, Six Harmonies Pagoda, Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum.

Drive to Hangzhou to visit Ling Yin Temple. Lingyin Temple is one of the most significant and beautiful Buddhist monasteries in China. The temple contains an important collection of Buddhist literature together with many other treasures. There is a laughing Buddha at the Flying Peak in it, and it has be a sign of the temple.

Then visit West Lake.
Lying on the west side of Hangzhou city, the West Lake is well known for its elegant appearance and natural beauty. West Lake is surrounded on three sides by rolling wooded hills. The natural setting of strangely shaped peaks, serene forests and springs, dense foliage and a myriad of blossoms especially in spring time are enhanced by a treasury of sculpture and architectural features. There are more than 40 places of scenic and historical interest scattered around West Lake, such as Lingyin Temple, Feilai Peak and others.

West LakeThen we will visit Six Harmonies Pagoda.
Located in Yuelun Hill on the north bank of the Qiantang River, Six Harmonies Pagoda is one of the masterpieces of ancient Chinese pagoda architecture. It is a famous octagonal pagoda. There are various sorts of stone tablets and stone statues both inside and out of the pagoda. Six Harmonies Pagoda is the landmark for navigation of Qiantang River.

Move on to visit Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum. It is the State-level professional one in China.
