Day 1. Mutianyu Great Wall, Local Village, Overnight at the foot of Jinshaling Great Wall.

Mutianyu Great WallBe picked up from your hotel by English speaking tour guide and private vehicle at 08:30 am. Drive to Mutianyu Great Wall to start Gubeikou Great Wall 2 days package trip.

The Great Wall was built and maintained between the 7th century BC and 17th century BC. It was originally built to protect the empire from northern invaders. The Great Wall stretches through the countryside over deserts, hills and plains for 8,851.8 kilometers.

Mutianyu was first built in the mid-6th century. It is the longest fully-restored Great Wall with 22 original style watchtowers. Mutianyu Great Wall features picturesque landscape with 90% forest coverage rate. The scenery in spring and autumn is excellent. Mutianyu Great Wall is not so crowded as Badaling section. Take sightseeing on the wall for about 2 hours. Cable car is optional to get the top to have a bird view. see Mutianyu Great Wall map.

Then visit a local village. The village is known for its natural landscapes, mountains and rivers. There is an ancient castle in the village. The castle was built in 1599 during the Ming Dynasty as a war command center of the great wall nearby. It is 123 meters long from east to west and 102 meters from south to north. The wall is 7 menters high. The castle is the only well-preserved caslte built in Ming Dynasty in Beijing.

Day 2. Hiking from Jinshanling Great Wall to Gubeikou Great Wall

Jinshanling was first built in the mid-6th century. It is the longest fully-restored Great Wall with 22 original style watchtowers. Gubeikou Great Wall was an important strategic pass, along with Shanhaiguan Pass and Juyongguan Pass. Constructed in 1368, the great wall stretches for about 40 kilometers with 14 beacon towers and 143 watch towers. Be transferred back to your hotel in Beijing after the whole day tour at around 18:00.
