Drive to Suzhou to visit Lingering Garden. Lingering Garden is a classical Chinese traditional garden listed as culture relics by UNESCO in 1997. With an area of 23,310 square meters, it is celebrated for its artistic way of dealing with the spaces between various kinds of architectural form. The four parts of the garden are connected by corridors which twists and turns with the terrain, spiraling up hills, spanning valleys, skirting ponds, or leading to secluded nooks.
Then visit Suzhou Museum. The museum has more than 40,000 pieces in its collections, mainly are unearthed relics, paintings and calligraphy of Ming and Qing Dynasty, and ancient crafts. The Prince Zhong's Mansion in the museum is the best–preserved historical building during the period of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (1851-1864). The building is decorated with colorful carvings and paintings.
After lunch, drive to the water town Zhouzhuang including ancient town and old waterways. Zhouzhuang lies at the middle between Shanghai and Suzhou, So it is thought by many to be the best waterside town in China. This ancient town has a history of more than 900 years old with many houses built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are about 100 houses with courtyards, and 60 of them have arch gateways made by carved bricks.
Be transferred back to your hotel in Shanghai after the tour.
