  • Day 1. Reach Xian, Da Cien Temple, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum, Daxingshan Temple.  
  • Day 2. Terracotta Army, Ancient City Wall, Wolong Temple.  
  • Day 3. Xianyang Museum, Famen Temple.  
  • Day 4. Mount Huashan, Xiyue Temple.  
  • Day 5. Xingjiao Temple, Guangren Lama Temple, Qinglong Temple, Xiangji Temple.  
  • Day 6. Leave Xian.  

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1. Reach Xian, Da Cien Temple, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum, Daxingshan Temple.  

  • Be met from Beijing airport or railway station by private guide when you reach in Xian.
    Proceed to Da Cien Temple and visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda. First built in 648 during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Da Cien Temple was an imperial temple and one of the four sites for Buddhist sutra translation at that time. The famous Buddhist pagoda, Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the temple. The pagoda is a landmark of Xian City. The present 7-storey Pagoda was built with layers of bricks without any cement in between.
  • Then head to Shaanxi History Museum. Featuring an architectural style of the Tang Dynasty, Shaanxi History Museum is the first large state modern museum. It presents the history and culture of Shaanxi province and Chinese ancient civilization. The basic exhibition is "Ancient Civilization of Shaanxi".
    Visit the birthplace of Chinese Tantric Buddhism, Daxingshan Temple. With a history of over 1,700 years, the temple was one of the three sutras translation sites in Xian during the Sui and Tang Dynasties(581-907).

  • Day 2. Terracotta Army, Ancient City Wall, Wolong Temple.  

  • Be picked up from hotel by private guide at 08:30 in the morning.
    Visit Terracotta Army first. Terracotta Army is one of the most significant archeological excavations in 20th century and the Eighth Wonder in the World. You will be amazed by the advanced manufacturing skill in ancient China over 2,000 years ago.
  • After lunch, drive to Ancient City Wall, one of the most important landmarks of Xian City. The walls, moat, city gate, watchtowers, battlements, ramparts and crenels form a complete defensive system. You can rent a bike and ride on the wall at you own cost.
    Then visit Wolong Temple. With a history of more than 1,800 years, Wolong Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Xian. Many steles and other Buddhist relics can be found in the temple.

  • Day 3. Xianyang Museum, Famen Temple.

    Head to enjoy the 3000 painted terracotta warriors and horses in Xianyang Museum. Once a Confucian Temple, Xianyang Museum focuses its exhibition on the historical relics of the Qin and the Western Han dynasties(221BC - 24AD).
  • In the afternoon, visit Famen Temple with a history of over 1,700 years. More than 2,400 relics and treasures were discovered from underground palace of the temple, including the Sakyamuni's finger bone, the only remaining one in the world.

  • Day 4. Mount Huashan, Xiyue Temple.

    Drive to visit Mount Huashan, one of the five great mountains in China. Enjoy the gorgeous sceneries and experienced the world's most dangerous path in the world, the Plank Walk. Round cable car is covered.
  • Visit Xiyue Temple, a place where emperors of previous dynasties worshipped the god of Mount Huashan, Shaohao. The temple is regarded as the "Forbidden City in Shaanxi", because its grand scale and rigorous layout resemble the Forbidden City in Beijing.

  • Day 5. Xingjiao Temple, Guangren Lama Temple, Qinglong Temple, Xiangji Temple.

    Visit Xingjiao Temple. The temple was one of eight famed temples in Fanchuan in Tang Dynasty(618-907). It contains the bronze statue and Burmese jade Buddha statue of Ming Dynasty, dozens of murals and thousands of Buddhist scripture volumes.
    Proceed to Guangren Lama Temple. First built in 1705 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Guangren Lama Temple is the only Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Shaanxi Province. The largest statue of Thousand-Hand Avalokitesvara in Shaanxi Province and one of 12-year-old life-size sculptures of Buddhas were kept in this temple.
  • After lunch, head to Qinglong Temple. With a history of over 1,400 years, Qinglong Temple was the cradle of Shingon Buddhism. The Japanese monk named Kukai had been trained in this temple and found the Shingon Buddhism after he went back Japan.
    Move on to Xiangji Temple, the cradle of Pure Land Buddhism. The most famous in the temple is Shandao Pagoda built by bricks in 680. The flanks of the tower are exquisitely engraved with twelve half-naked Buddhas.
