    • Beijing Capital International Airport is located in Shunyi District, about 32 kilometers northeast of downtown Beijing, 18 km to northeast 3rd ring road. The airport is the main hub for Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and China Southern Airlines.

      There are three terminals in Capital Airport Beijing. T1, T2 and T3. T1 is mainly for domestic flights, T2 and T3 are for both domestic and international flights and airlines. There is free ferry bus service among three terminals.

      Travelers may stay in a hotel near airport to connect a flight of next morning. There are two small town near Beijing Capital Airport, which are convenient for travelers leisure time. One is Airport Staff Living District, another is called Tianzhu Town.

      Private transfer is the best method if you travel with luggage and do not want to wait in line. Shuttle bus, Subway and taxi are good choice if you don't mind to wait in-line. Please stay away from 'taxi driver' in waiting hall of of Capital Airport, they are not real taxi driver.

      History

      Beijing Capital International Airport was opened to public in March 2, 1958. It was the first Civil Aviation Airport in the period of the People's Republic of China. The airport then consisted of one small terminal building, mainly used for the charter flights and VIP Passengers.

      In January 1, 1980, the newly built Terminal 1 of Capital Airport Beijing and it's auxiliary project, like apron, parking lot, was put into use.
      In 1995, the Terminal 2 began to be built and opened in 1999. This terminal can handle 16,500,000 passengers every year. At the same time, the Terminal 1 was closed and re-opened in 2004 after renovation. In the spring of 2008, the Terminal 3 completed construction. This terminal take the 60% of the passengers handling capacity of Beijing Capital Airport.

      In 2012, the passengers handling capacity of Beijing Capital International Airport reached 73,770,000. The airport became the second busiest airport in the world, behind the Atlanta Airport in the United States.
