  • Take a light hiking on Great Wall

    Being the number one attraction of China, Great Wall should never be missed when plan a trip to Beijing. After climbing on top of the wall, there is 30 to 60 minutes to take a light hiking along the great wonder. It is a great experience to enjoy the beautiful scenery and ancient defensive project in one place.
    There are several sections of Great Wall near Beijing, the following ones are listed on top of the list:
    - Badaling Great Wall, Located closed to Beijing, Badaling Great Wall is a popular section to be visited, especially for local people.

    - Mutianyu Great Wall, This section of Great Wall is located a little further place of Huairou district in northeast direction. Mutianyu Great Wall is suggest to be visited in Summer or during Chinese public holiday because of green trees and fewer travelers than Badaling Great Wall.

    - Jinshanling Great Wall, This part of Great Wall is far from Beijing, around 150km, but this is the best choice if you prefer to take great photo on Great Wall.

    - Gubeikou Great Wall, This is the best place to see the Great Wall before renovation. And it is also favored by hikers. Apricot during spring make you hiking more pleasant.

    Visit Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City

    As the imperial place of Ming and Qing Dynasty, Tiananmen Square and Forbidden are located in the center of Beijing downtown.
    Tiananmen Square, the biggest downtown square, witnessed many historical events including the founding of new China. Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao, The Monument of People's Hero, The Great Hall of the People and the National Museum are available to be found in the square.

    Forbidden City work as imperial office and resident place for 24 emperors of ancient China. The main buildings of imperial office covers Taihedian, Zhonghedian and Baohedian Palace. The buildings for imperial residencial palace covers Qianqinggong, Jiataidian and Kunninggong Palace. Most travelers visit Forbidden City along the central axis from south to north to visit these six buildings. The south Gate Wumen Gate is connected with the north end of Tiananmen Square, so the sightseeing of Tianamen Square is arranged in the same day with Forbidden City.
    The Forbidden City visiting usually takes from 1.5 to 2 hours to cover the main buildings. It needs a full day if you prefer to take a deep tour of this imperial palace to include the east, west and the imperial garden.

    Take sightseeing in Summer Palace

    Summer Palace was built based on a former imperial palace - Qingyiyuan Garden, which is located around 20 km northwest of downtown Beijing.
    The beauty of Summer Palace combines natural mountain, lake as well as traditional buildings in the garden.
    Summer Palace was once used by part of Qing Emperor as a office and residential place in Summer.
    A boating experience is suggested if you visit Summer Palace in Summer.

    Temple of Heaven visiting

    Located 3 km south of Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven is a place for worshiping the Heaven by ancient Chinese emperor. This is a good place to touch ancient Chinese heaven worship culture as well as the traditional Chinese building. Being the main builing, Qiniandian is called the Hall of Good Harvests.
    Sourrounding the main attraction, there is an outer section, which is a good exercising place for local people. You may find how local people enjoy their leisure time on early morning.

    • Take photo at Bird Nest of Olympic Park

      Bird Nest is the main competition venues of Summer Olympic Games in 2008. Located near the north 4th ring road, the building is a landmark of new Beijing. Many travelers come to this place to take a photo of this modern and unique designed building.
      It is available to be visiting during daytime or in the evening after being lighted.

      Taste Beijing Roasted Duck

      Beijing Roasted Duck is one of the famous dished of Beijing. The roasted duck was made based on fruit tree and Tianya duck.
      The famous roasted duck restaurant include Bianyifang, Quanjude, Huajiayiyuan, Dadong, Tongfulin, etc. This dish is favored by most local people and most travelers. But it is not accepted by part travelers. It is a good idea to order half a duck (if possible) and one or two other ordinary dishes.

      Try the man-powered rickshaw in Hutong area

      Hutong is located in downtown Beijing, not far from Forbidden City. This is the old or traditional place kept by government. Except old style courtyard, trees and vendors, the man-powered rickshaw is one of the highlights in Hutong. It make travelers to move quickly in the narrow lanes.
      The rickshaw seems easy to be ride, but it is quite different if you did not use it in the past. It is interesting to try it by yourself.

      Discover Ming Tombs

      Ming Tombs is located around 50 km north of Beijing city. It is the final resting place of 24 Emperors of Ming Dynasty.
      Dingling Tomb and Changling Tomb are often visited by most travelers. Dingling Tomb is famous for the underground palace. Changling Tomb is famous for the buildings on top of earth ground.
      Sacred Way was designed for the whole Ming Tomb area. Many stone Statues can be found along the path.
      Ming Tombs is in the same direction with Badaling Great Wall, so they are often combined into one day sightseeing.

      See Panda in Beijing Zoo

      Panda is available in Beijing Zoo. Panda is arranged in the separate section of the Zoo. It is interesting to see other animals if you have enough time.
      If possible, it is better to visit the zoo on the morning, because most animals got lazy and sleepy in the afternoon.
