Detailed Itinerary

• Day 1. Beijing - Datong  
• 
  
• You will be met from hotel in downtown Beijing and transferred to train station to connect overnight train to Datong.
•   , ,
• Day 2. Datong : Yungang Grotto, Nine Dragon Wall, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple  
• 
  Reach Datong train station on the morning. Datong local tour guide will meet you out of the exit of train station.
  Drive to visit Yungang Grottoes.
  Located around 16km west of Datong city, Yungang Grottoe we built since Beiwei Dynasty, which is around 1500 years ago. 51000 stone carving statues scattered in 45 main caves and more than 250 small caves.
  Have lunch in a nice local restaurant.
• After lunch, we will drive back to Datong city to visit the Nine Dragon Wall.
  Built over 600 years ago, the screen is 8 meters high, 2.02 meters wide and 45.5 meter long. 9 vivid dragon flying on the screen composed of 426 pieces of multicolored glazed components.
  
  Move on to visit Huayan Temple.
  Built in Liao Dynasty (907 - 1125), Huayan Monastery is famous for its architecture, statues, murals, wall storage and mosui.
  
  Proceed to visit Shanhua Temple.
  Located in central Datong within the old city wall, Shanhua Monastery was first constructed during the Tang dynasty (618-907). Being the biggest and best preserved temple, it houses intricately carved statues of Jin dynasty (265-420AD), precious murals and steles.
  
  Be transferred to your hotel in downtown Datong after the whole day tour.

• Day 3. Datong-Taiyuan: Hanging Temple, Wood Pagoda.   Overnight in Taiyuan  
• 
  After buffet breakfast in hotel, you will be met from your hotel on the morning. Drive to south suburb of Datong to Discover the unbelievable Hanging Temple. Hanging halfway up a cliff of Mountain Heng, the temple is around 50 meters to the ground, since first built more than 1500 years ago. This unique building surprised all traveler.
  
  
• After lunch, we will drive to south to Yingxian county to discover the famous Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. With a history of around 900 years, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda is the oldest and highest wooden structure in China. Under another name "Sakyamuni Wooden Pagoda", it is 31 meters in height, 30.27 meters in diameter, pure wood structure, no nails and no rivets.
  
  Drive to hotel in downtown Taiyuan and stay overnight.

• Day 4. Taiyuan-Pingyao : Jinci Temple, Pingyao Ancient City  Overnight in Pingyao.  
• 
  After breakfast in hotel of Taiyuan, you will be met by Taiyuan local guide.
  Drive to visit the famous Jinci Garden Built in the Bei Wei Dynasty (386-534) in memory of Shuyu, Jinci Temple was buil for the second son of Zhouwu kingdom. The temple was built in Chinese traditional garden style, covering hall, pavilions, and towers.
• After lunch in a nice restaurant, we will drive to visit Pingyao Ancient City. Being called one of the 50 places in China for foreigners, Pingyao Ancient City show you a complete city of 700 years ago. Walking in the old street of the city or standing in the county office, travelers believe a time-machine take you back to Ming Dynasty of ancient China.
  
  Stay overnight in a Chinese traditional style hotel in Pingyao Ancient city.

• Day 5. Pingyao sightseeing, overnight train to Luoyang  
• 
  After a sweet sleep in tradtional Chinese hotel and a delicious breakfast, you will be met from hotel lobby on the morning.
  This is the second day to discover the amazing Pingyao Ancient City. We will visit the main places of the city, such as County Office, ancient Escort, ancient bank, etc.
  Take walk on the city wall. The Ancient City Wall in Pingyao was originally built using rammed earth, and was rebuilt with bricks in 1370 during the reign of Emperor HongWu of the Ming Dynasty.
  
  If time permit, we will visit a small and quiet temple near Pingyao city, this is a good place to enjoy Chinese clay statue and ancient painting art.
• Drive to visit a local courtyard, Wangjia Dayuan ( courtyard ). It was built based on traditional Chinese architecture custom. You may find a unbelieveable huge yard owned by a family of Shanxi Merchants.
  
  Drive to Taiyuan to take an overnight train to Luoyang.
•   Breakfast, Lunch,
• Day 6. Luoyang : Guanlin Temple, Tianzijialiu Museum  
• 
  Arrive in Luoyang at 11:39.
  Drive to a nice local restaurant for lunch.
• After lunch we will drive to visit Guanlin temple, the final resting place of GuanYu. Being a famous general during Three Kingdom Period (220–280), Guanyu is respected by all Chinese people because of his loyalty and brave.
  If time permit, we will drive to Tianzijialiu Museum in downtown Luoyang to enjoy the carriage and horse in ancient China.
  Be transferred back to your hotel after the sightseeing.

• Day 7. Luoyang : Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple  
• 
  After delicious breakfast in hotel, the pleasant trip start from your hotel lobby at 08:30 am.
  The first attraction of today is the famous Longmen Grottoes. Being one of the four famous ancient grottoes of China, Longmen Grottoes offers the most impressive trip when you stand at the foot of the giant grotto. And you cannot believe, the grottoes start to be built more than 1500 years ago.
  
• Have breakfast in a nice local restaurant.
  In the afternoon, we will dive to visit White Horse Temple. With a history of more than 1900 years, White Horse Temple is the first Buddhist temple built in 68AD. And the first Buddhist scriptures to China stored and translated here.

• Day 8. Luoyang - Shaolin Temple - Zhengzhou  Henan Museum. Overnight in Zhengzhou  
• 
  Be met from hotel at appointed time. Drive to Dengfeng to visit Shaolin Temple. Being one of the important Buddhist temple of China, Shaolin Temple was built around 1600 years ago during Northen Wei Dynasty. The temple becomes very popular because of the movies and TV since 1982. Many foreign travelers come to Shaolin Temple to learn Kongfu.
  
• Drive to Zhengzhou to visit Henan Museum. Being of the oldest and largest museums of China, Henan Museum occupies an area of more than 100,000 square meters, offers more than 4.7 million pieces of movable cultural relics including bronze, jade, porcelain, etc.

• Day 9. Zhengzhou-Kaifeng-Zhengzhou : Iron Pagoda, Pota Pagoda, Dragon Pavilion.

  You will be met from hotel lobby of Zhengzhou at 08:00.
  Drive one and half hours to Kaifeng to visit Iron Pagoda. The pagoda was built in 1049AD after the previous wooden pagoda was burned down by lightning fire. This 56 meters brick pagoda stand in Kaifeng more than 1000 years, and it was named Iron Pagoda because of the color.
  
  Move on to visit the Po Pagoda(Fanta Pagoda). Being the oldest Buddhist building in Kaifeng, Po Pagoda was built in 974, during Northern Song Dynasty of China. The pagoda originally had 9 floors, but only 3 floors available now. 108 Buddha images can be found on tiles of the pagoda.
  
• Then we will drive to visit Dragon Pavilion.
  Sitting on a 13 meters high brick terrace, Dragon Pavilion is a traditional Chinese palace-like building. It is a the main building of Longting Park.
  Drive back to Zhengzhou to take overnight train back to Beijing.

• 10. Reach Beijing.

  Be met from exit of Beijing railway station and transferred to Beijing Airport.
